I was very unsure of what to post tonight. This picture carries far too much personal meaning for me to truly do it justice in this short space. Some long time visitors to the site may recall the rose bud, photographed one cold cold rainy morning in October. I rescued the bud and tended it until is blossomed. Then I pressed the blossom, fully intending it as a gift to be sent around the world to a friend down-under. But things went wrong and the ties with that person soured.

As Christmas arrived, I decided to send it anyway and pulled it from its press inside my large Atlas. But I discovered that I had done something very wrong and the pressed blossom was not suitable for any sort of gift, other than photographic. And here it is. A dried, shriveled blossom, smashed and scattered, alongside the hopeful , but fading, bud I had cherished and nutured back to life.
