EXIF: KONICA MINOLTA MAXXUM 5D | 1/320 sec | f 5.6 | 135.0mm (35mm equivalent: 202.0mm) | ISO 100

While driving around a few days ago I swung through an old nursery/landscape business complete with a big greenhouse. The place had certainly seen better days, but was still in business. Inside the front portion of the greenhouse they were displaying a variety of lawn ornaments that caught my eye. I suppose due to the higher humidity and temperature inside, there was a good bit of condensation on the inside of the structure.

Had the pleasure tonight of listening to a lecture and Q&A session with reknown author Tracy Kidder. He is perhaps best known in the computer world for his book The Soul of a New Machine that tells the story of the development of the PDP8 minicomputer. Tonight he was speaking on his book Mountains Beyond Mountains which is a story of the heroic efforts of Anthropologist/Medical Doctor Paul Farmer's ability to address serious health care issues for the poor in some of the worst places on Earth. It is an incredible story and worth spending a few minutes to look into at the Partners In Health web site. Dr. Farmer's work tells us that it is possible to deal with issues like the pandemic of AIDS in Africa. Truly a lesson in 'forgingahead!'

WOW Award

Many of us have enjoyed Paul's images from New Orleans in recent months and he has been sharing a nice series of Mardi Gras shots in the past few days over at his photoblog Moments in Time. Today he got my attention, and hopefully yours too, with this shot, Mardi Gras 2006 - Camera Phone. I found myself wondering if this woman really needed someone's help to display herself to the phone toting cameraman.

Wow-award from Forgingahead!
