![]() Was out tonight on a summer solstice walk with a friend. We enjoyed an ad hoc picnic dinner (nothing fancy) and a leisurely stroll along the waterfront in Waterford. I shot this picture of the sun setting over the City of Cohoes. Due to many different reasons, the WOW Award feature of forgingahead has been on a vacation. In fact, I hardly even give it a thought as I make my rounds...seems I just did not want to be bothered with the 'work' of making the award. But in my heart, I knew it would resurface when the WOW shot hit me again. Philippe at Clairobscur and I have been communicating for many months and I even had the honor of meeting him and Christine on their visit to NYC a few months back. I think Philippe has a wonderfully unique way of seeing the world through his camera. It is always so different from what I do that I am drawn into thinking about all sorts of new possibilities. For the past few days he has been running some scanned images from a trip he made to Easter Island years ago. He achieved a retro-look in these pictures that reminded me immediately of the earliest pictures I ever saw of the figures on the island. Today, in his shot reclining moia, so many elements of Philippes work converged that I was moved to award today's WOW to him. Please take a moment to visit clairobscur and wonder around for a bit. I am sure it will be worth your time. I should note that some of his processing of these Easter Island shots was in the back of my mind when I processed today's picture for this site. ![]() | |
