![]() This is the first of a pair of pictures illustrating the unfortunate decay of a very prominent area of downtown Albany. Here we have an old, abandoned Chinese restaurant that was on the street level of an old hotel. The hotel, which has been abandoned for too many years, is falling apart. Owned by an absentee land owner somewhere in England from what I recall, the place is truly a disgrace. A few years ago parts of the structure fell from the upper floors resulting in expensive remedial action by the city and subsequent drawn out legal proceedings. That seemed like ten years ago (probably not that long ago) and still the place is empty and falling apart. This place is less than block down the main street of Albany from the State Capitol. Seems someone should be able to do something. But as the place crumbles, the chances for a restoration dwindle. | |
