 I should apologize. One thing I try to avoid is photographs of abandoned couches. I think before this one I had only posted one such shot (two, if you count big old chairs too -- oops just remembered another from fall of 2005). The reason I avoid them is because it is somewhat of a cliche type image among photobloggers. I am not really opposed to shooting cliches, they are sometimes a requisite part of a complete portfolio and if done right, can sometimes even be a little creative. But I was still doing my Alleys of Troy series and when I came on this couch in an alley in Troy, I really had no choice...had to make the shot. I suppose I could have been a bit more creative, but what the heck...this is it. Off for a hectic day of meeting in DC tomorrow. It will be a long, long day beginning with a flight from Albany at 6:35 am (at airport by 5:30 am, up at 4 am) and not home until nearly 10 pm. | |
