Old Roadside Motor Court
EXIF: SONY DSLR-A700 | 1/80 sec | f 6.3 | 40.0mm (35mm equivalent: 60.0mm) | ISO 400

Our first stop on Saturday was along US Route 20, which was the first official transcontinental highway in the United States. Over the years, a number of interesting places emerged. Among them were the ubiquitous motor courts, the precursors of today's Motel 6's, Holiday Inn's, etc. I'm not sure of the specific history of this place, but one of the folks from our small group says his parents stayed here. The motor courts, and other tourist oriented places, were left high and dry by the opening of the NY State Thruway in the mid 1950's.
