Tiger Swallowtail

This is a 'BONUS' Extra shot for today. I noticed while running through my list of bookmarked photoblogs (about 30-40 I look at every morning) that only 5 or 6 actually posted new photos. In fact, most are showing shots that are several days old, and a few are weeks old. As a general practice if a photoblogger leaves the same pic up for more than a week, I remove them from my bookmarks. I may return later and recheck, but my feeling is that I try very hard to post something new every day and I appreciate other sites that do the same.

But it is the tail end of summer (at least in the northern hemisphere) and everyone is doing their vacations, back-to-school rituals, etc. so I guess that is the main reason for the lack of new material. I suppose in a couple of week, with kids back in school and vacations over, everyone will return to their computers ready to display new work.

At any rate, I offer this shot taken at Big Meadows (my previous picture). This butterfly was quite cooperative, unlike Monarchs which I find to be exceptionally skittish. I was able to get within a few inches of this one before it flitted away to the next blossom.
