I am going to be posting a few more of these old studio-style portraits. This is my grandfather and his young bride. If I understand this story correctly, after they married they lived in Ramsey New Jersey while my grandfather continued to work in Brooklyn. For anyone who understands the geography of northern New Jersey and the New York City area, you know that is one heck of a daily commute, even with modern transportation conveniences. In the teens and twenties, it must has taken hours -- train to Hoboken or Jersey City, tube to Manhattan, and subway to Brooklyn. Defnitely not an easy commute.
